A diptych contrasting urban waste and order, pairing a chaotic trash can with a clean geometric plastic lid.

Not many people would be attracted to the contents of a garbage can (yeah, I'm a bit strange), but I was drawn to the color and the jumbled shape of the curved orange strap; I shoot a lot of things with loops. Then there is the blue of the bottle label for a complementary color mix, and the radiating lines when looking straight down into this old-fashioned metal trash can. The metal netting of the structure bends and weaves and even the decayed, crustiness of the bottom adds to a certain lusciousness of what I consider an urban still life. This busyness is contrasted to the simplicity of the radiating lines of the image to the right, that of the underside of some big plastic garbage can lid. The second image also repeats the black of the metal trash can; they both also have patches of white.

Print Info

Just the Print:  Archival pigment print (giclée) on a heavy weight fine-art matte paper.  Paper used is the industry standard, Hahnemühle Photo Rag.

Acrylic: Print is face-mounted to 1/8" thick digital grade acrylic and rear-mounted to dibond, having a float aluminum cleat subframe. Ready to hang.

Framing is available upon request.
