Seeing Red #10: Street Lines and Bicycle Tracks

A dynamic diptych contrasting diagonal red streaks and geometric white rectangles against the rough texture of asphalt.
This pair of images are two views from the same site that to me most suggest an abstract painting. Most of my 'Seeing Red' images are related to the painting of the red bus lanes on the 14th Street Corridor (my local bus). The white rectangles here are normal dotted street lines (with a smear from the botched painting process) and the big red squares are the edges of the bus lane designation itself. Then what you are seeing are lots of bicycle tracks criss-crossing through the still-wet red paint. For the likes of me, this was a particularly exciting find that resulted in many shots. Again texture is a major theme as well as our starring color of red.
Bicycle tracks through wet paint are a common sight in New York, more commonly green tracks through the green bicycle lane paint. Why does the city not rope off these newly painted areas? Well there is just too much traffic to move out of the way, and lets face it, New Yorkers would just push such barricades aside. And aren't we glad to witness such serendipitous finds.
