A woman in a green hoodie stands calmly at the center of a Canal Street intersection as dark blurred figures rush past on either side of her — and oncoming headlights and a white SUV cut through the background. The contrast between her stillness and the motion surrounding her creates a charged stillness, the city pouring around a single point of composure.

Part of Susan Bowen's Legs and Feet series, exploring movement, stride, and the rhythm of the city.
